Creating New Messages
The first thing that you will need to decide on when creating a new message is which format you would like that message in – either plain text or HTML.
The advantage of sending out text emails is that they come to the user in a very small file and therefore you can store a lot of data into a small medium. The disadvantage of text files and advantage of HTML messages is that you are able to add presentational features such as emphasizing your messages through bolding, italicizing, and underlining, and the ability to add diagrams, illustrations, and pictures to your message.
To create a text message click the Add Text Message button on the top of your Email Management screen, and similarly to add an HTML message, click the Add HTML Message button.
For our demonstration we will be creating an HTML message, along with adding some presentational features by editing the font styles, and finally we’ll add in a picture to go along our message.
From the top of the Email Management screen, click Add HTML Message. Upon successfully doing so, you will be presented with a screen such as the one shown in Illustration 1.2.3.
View ImagePlease do note that you will need to install the Response Magic Editor Toolbar
in order to fully take advantage of creating
professional looking HTML messages. The Email Editor in
the images provided below will look different if you are
using Firefox or Safari.
When using Response Magic to create HTML messages it is strongly recommended that you use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which comes ready will ActiveX capabilities. Also be advised that the toolbar that is installed onto your computer in no way contains any adware or spyware that may track your internet surfing habits.
If you have not installed the toolbar plug-in yet, Response Magic will remind you and provide you with a direct link to the free download of the toolbar which you may download and install using the on-screen instructions.
Once you have successfully installed the toolbar you should be presented with a screen similar to the one shown in Illustration 1.2.3.
The first thing that we need to place in our document is the subject of the message and how many days after the last message we want this newly created one sent out. For the subject we will place Lorem Ipsum and we will be sending this new message 7 days after our last message.
In the body of the message we will type some Latin dummy-text just as show to demonstrate the Response Magic Editor.
View ImageNow that we have some basic text down in the editor we can begin placing some presentational features. The first line of our document contains the title of the message, and will bring attention to it by making that line of text bigger than the actual body of the message. To do this, we will highlight the word Lorem Ipsum and under the Paragraph Style dropdown will choose Heading 1. The Paragraph Style is located in the dropdown that currently has Normal selected as its style. We can also go through our document and
emphasize some of the text by bolding, italicizing, and underlining it. After doing so we now have a better looking HTML document, as seen in Illustration 1.2.5 on the following page.
View ImageWe will now add a picture to our HTML message. To do this, click the Picture icon located in the main toolbar of the editor. When this icon is clicked on, a new window will pop-up as seen in Illustration 1.2.6.
View ImageThe Media File Selection window will allow to either you to select an image from your hard disk drive, select an image from your image library, or create a new image using the image editor.
To open an existing image, click the Select New File button and locate the image on your hard disk drive by pressing the Browse button in the window that opens up. Lastly, to wrap the text around the image we will align the image to the left side of the text. To do this we will set the alignment to Left from the Alignment dropdown.
As a result we have now created a professional looking business email letter as displayed in illustration 1.2.7.
